Star Wars Republic Commando

There are quite a few bad Star Wars games out there, but this one isn't one of them. Republic Commando puts you in charge of an elite squad of Troopers from the new Star Wars films, and throws you into scenes from loads of the planets that are featured in them, including the brand new film, Revenge of the Sith.

You lead a squadron of troops into various battles, telling them what to do and where to go. It's a first person shooter that gives you the chance to use a fair bit of strategy too, so it's going to appeal to most types of gamers. It's also got online playability.

It's looking good for people who like games like this, cos after Halo 2 came out, the game makers have to go a long way to please the game-buying public, and this game is a good example of that. I'd definitely recommend it.

Film: The Incredibles

Released: Out Now

The Incredibles

If you missed this at the cinema, then you really missed out. But don't worry - the DVD of Pixar's "The Incredibles" is here so you can enjoy it again and again. The story of super heroes trying to get on with every day life seems like more of an adult theme than previous efforts from Pixar, but it's amazing how much fun they get out of such a simple idea. Because the characters in this film are based a little more in reality than previous Pixar favourites - e.g. Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story or Dory from Finding Nemo - there's a bit more of a connection with the viewer, and makes it all the more cool when they start to use their super powers. It feels like every film Pixar makes is better than the last one, which, when you look at the likes of Toy Story, Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo, seems an impossible task.

The Incredibles is great entertainment, for all ages. It appeals to kids cos it's colourful, it's funny, and it's full of superheroes with really cool powers, and it also appeals to grown-ups cos, well, it's colourful, it's funny, and it's full of superheroes with really cool powers.

I'd be the first to admit to being a bit of a geek, but you don't need that qualification to enjoy this film. Everyone I know who's seen it thought it was great. Anyway, the DVD is absolutely packed with special features, one of the better ones being an exclusive animation short about baby Jack Jack's powers, and what exactly he did to the babysitter. Don't think twice about buying this.

Film: Team America: World Police

Released: Out Now

Team America: World Police

After the success of the Thunderbirds last year, we're treated to yet another puppet filled release from the team who brought us South Park. There's a lot of stuff going on and nobody gets off lightly. It's a funny but shocking film that you're either going to love or hate. From the start, the destruction of Paris sets the tone for the rest of the film. Team America attacks everyone from the US Government to the liberals in Hollywood. This no holds barred approach is going to have some people rolling in the aisles and others running for the exit.

The complex, soap like relationships of the spandex clad team are spot on. But this doesn't come close to the brilliant music used throughout the film. Team America fails with the treatment of the North Korean dictator. It's been done before with Saddam Hussein and wasn't as funny this time.

The film was enjoyable but quite cringe worthy at times. It's still showing at the cinema so could be worth checking out if you have time and want to see some awesome work with puppets.

Film: Meet The Fockers

Released: Out Now

Meet The Fockers

The hilarious sequel to the Meet the Parents - Meet the Fockers again features Gaylord "Greg" Focker (Ben Stiller) desperately trying to impress his soon-to-be father-in-law Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro). Only this time it's during a weekend with both sets of in-laws at "Focker Island".

Greg's parents (played brilliantly by Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand) aren't exactly conventional. His mum, Ros, runs sex therapy sessions for older couples in the house whilst his father, Bernie is a little over-affectionate for Jacks liking. Making for a hilarious series of events involving Greg desperately to hide the facts about his parents from Jack, and Jack hell-bent on finding something on Greg through his CIA connections.

The surname pun is used constantly throughout the film, but what the hell - it's funny! Particularly when Greg talks about this uncle Dom and cousins, Randy and Horny. Meet the Fockers is just as funny as meet the parents, and is an easy film get in to is you like this kind of humour.

Game: HALO 2
Platform: X-Box
Released: Out Now

Halo

One of the most successful titles on the XBOX is back. Halo 2 is great! I really liked the game because there were loads of levels and you can play as the Master Chief or, his enemy, the Covenant. In the new Halo you can now hold two weapons at once and fire them at the same time. I really enjoyed that. You also get to fight on Earth, which was really good fun.

Some of the levels are a bit boring, you just have to run around rooms that all look the same. But there are some great levels and there are more vehicles to mess around in.

Halo 2 is as good as the first Halo. The game play is very similar but they have improved the graphics and the storyline. The marines you work with say really cool stuff, and it's just really good fun to run around listening to them speak.

I can't wait for the next Halo. I also heard that the XBOX Live version is great!

Film: Spider Man 2
Platform: DVD
Released: Out Now

Spiderman

He's one of the coolest superheroes there is, and his second big-screen outing is out now on DVD. If you enjoyed the first one, then you'll love this. It's more of the same - big stunts, loads of Spidey action, and a great super-villain. This time round, it's Doctor Otto Octavius (Doctor Octopus) who's causing our hero a whole load of trouble.

The first film did a great job of setting the scene for lots of new adventures for Spider Man, and this one doesn't disappoint. There are loads of great fights, including a brilliant one on top of a train. It's a great story and the effects are really breathtaking. The DVD has loads of extra stuff on it too, to keep all the movie fans happy.

Bring on Spider Man 3!
